Islamabad United emerged as the champions of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 by beating Peshawar Zalmi in the final by 3 wickets at the National Stadium Karachi here on Sunday.
Karachi (Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2018) Islamabad United emerged as the champions of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 by beating Peshawar Zalmi in the final by 3 wickets at the National Stadium Karachi here on Sunday. Peshawar Zalmi batted first after winning the toss and scored 148 runs in 20 overs, thanks to Wahab Riaz’s onslaught in death overs. In reply Islamabad United chased the given target in 17th over on the loss of 7 wickets, after a thrilling contest.
Asif Ali's three consecutive sixes in Hassan Ali's over steered Islamabad to victory. Luke Ronchi yet again scored a quick half century and provided Islamabad a solid start. Whereas, Sahibzada Farhan contributed equally by scoring 44 runs off 33 balls. Peshawar Zalmi made impressing come back by dismissing 7 United's batsmen in span of 7 overs. But, Asif Ali held his nerves in pressure moments and steered his team to final victory. Wahab Riaz was the only impressive bowler from Peshawar Zalmi who took 2 wickets by giving away 28 runs. Not to forget, this is Islamabad United's second PSL title.
