Lahore(Pakistan Point News - 13th Mar, 2018 ) According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 3 in 5 Pakistanis (61%) continue to believe that for peace to be established between India and Pakistan it is essential to first resolve Kashmir issue, a 12% decline over the past 15 years. A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “In your opinion, to establish peace with India is it essential to first resolve Kashmir issue or can peace be established with India even without it?” Responding to this, 61% said it is essential to resolve Kashmir issue for peace, while 32% said peace can be established without resolving Kashmir issue.
7% did not know or did not wish to respond. Trend Analysis: In 2003, 73% said it is essential to resolve Kashmir issue for peace, while 25% said peace can be established without resolving Kashmir issue. 2% did not know or did not wish to respond. According to public opinion, there has been a 12% decline in the proportion of Pakistanis who believe for peace to be established between India and Pakistan it is essential to first resolve Kashmir issue and a 7% increase in the proportion of Pakistanis who believe peace can be established even without resolving Kashmir issue.
