Football: Last-gasp Hull rescue point at Burnley

BURNLEY, United Kingdom, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -10th Sept,2016) - Hull City's Robert Snodgrass curled home an equaliser five minutes into injury-time to clinch a last-gasp 1-1 draw at Burnley's Turf Moor on Saturday.

Burnley had gone ahead against the run of play with a thunderbolt drive unleashed from 30 yards by midfielder Steven Defour 20 minutes from time, and the hosts looked set for a fifth straight top-flight win over Hull.

But the visitors are on a roll under caretaker manager Mike Phelan, and when his side earned a late, late free-kick there was always a feeling Snodgrass would bang it home, which he did with the last kick of the match.

Hull had been banging on the door and had hit the woodwork in both halves, although the first half was something of a frustrating deadlock, as both sides tried to play from deep and gave very little away.

Burnley keeper Tom Heaton palmed away a left-foot shot from City striker Abel Hernandez after 11 minutes. Hull's David Meyler hit the post on 44 after also beating the Burnley 'keeper. The 53-year-old Phelan was awarded Premier League manager of the month for August ahead of the game, but this point may be even more precious as it leaves his side on seven from a possible 12, with Burnley still on four.

Having been relegated twice and promoted together twice since 2010 Burnley had won 10 of the last 12 games between the two, including the last four of the top flight matches.
