Dhaka: A packaging factory caught fire, 15 people killed and 70 injured

Dhaka, (Pakistan Point News – 10th September, 2016) : In Bangladesh, 15 people have been killed and 70 injured in a huge fire actuated by a boiler explosion at a packaging factory in the town of Tongi, North of the capital Dhaka. According to the police, around 100 people were working when the blast occurred. Flames engulfed the whole building within a few minutes. Parvez Mia, a doctor at the Tongi state-run hospital, told the media, “The death toll has risen to 15 and at least 70 people have been injured.

” Most of the injured people had burn injuries. Critically injured victims have been shifted to the hospitals in Dhaka. Police said that many workers may still be trapped inside the building. Police inspector Sirajul islam told the media, “The fire is still not under control.” Tahmidul Islam of Bangladesh’s industrial police unit said that chemicals may have been stored on the ground floor of the factory, caused the blaze spread so fast that began at 6 am (0000 GMT).
