Govt Making Profitable Investment On Bright Future Of Country:CM

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -9th Sept,2016) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government is making profitable investment on the bright future of the country.
Addressing the ceremony held in the honour of students availing CM's Chinese Language Scholarship Programme, Chief Minister's Merit Scholarship Programme and those students who obtained high marks in 9th class examination at CM Secretariat here on Friday, he said that students who had gone to 50 best universities of abroad besides 130 students who went to China to learn Chinese language had been selected purely on merit.
All these students had obtained scholarships purely on the basis of their hard work and there was no element of bribery, rigging or favouritism in this process, he added. The Chief Minister said with the grace of Almighty Allah when all these students would return after completing their education they would contribute in the development of the country in more effective manner.
He said the Punjab government on its expenses was sending 500 students to China to learn Chinese language adding that first batch of 66 students was learning Chinese language in Beijing while another batch 166 students would soon go to China to learn the language.
Similarly, 33 students have been selected for PhD and these students would do their PhD in renowned universities including Cambridge University, Oxford University, Imperial University, National University Singapore and others.
He said the Punjab government was bearing the expenses in this regard which was actually a profitable investment for the bright future of the country. The students after learning Chinese language, would come back to the country and they would play a role of bridge between Pakistan and China adding that children of other provinces were also made part of this programme.
Beijing connection with Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Karachi would strengthen and in this way the journey of progress would gain the pace. The Chief Minister said: "Learning language actually helps in understanding the values, social identity and social relations." He said that when these children after learning Chinese language would spread in different parts of the country they would play a role of big bridge that was why the Punjab government had took this revolutionary step of sending these children to Beijing to learn the language.
He said these children would contribute in promoting China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He further said that CPEC was part of 'One Belt one Road' of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The CM thanked Chinese Consul General Yu Boren in extending support for the issuance of visas for the students and emphasised the students to learn the Chinese language with their full potential and observe the progress of China.
He said Solar project in Bahawalpur Solar Park had been completed speedily and similarly, work on 1320 MW coal power plant in Sahiwal was in progress and this project would be completed till the mid of 2017.
Speaking about Orange Line Metro Train he said that it was a transparent public project and Chinese leadership and government had full trust in the transparency of this project. He said this was the reason that Chinese government had given billion of rupees for metro train project.
He said that he was hopeful that this metro train project would complete in its stipulated time and benefit people besides being a revolutionary change in the transport system. Chinese Consul General Yu Boren said that Shehbaz Sharif was a man of action and his vision for the uplift of education sector was commendable.
He said that Shehbaz Sharif was equally popular in Chinese leadership and people as he was in Pakistani masses. He said that work was being carried out speedily on CPEC projects in Punjab. He said that 300 megawatt solar power project had been completed expeditiously at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur.
Similarly, he said, 65 percent civil work of 1320 megawatts coal power project in Sahiwal has been completed and this project will be complete in the middle of 2017. He said that work is also in progress expeditiously on Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project and it is hoped that it will also be finished within stipulated period.
He said that the Names of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif would always be remembered for taking Pak-China friendship to new heights. Provincial Minister Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, University of Education Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf Azam and Chairman Punjab Educational Endowment Fund Dr Amjad Saqib also sopke on the occasion.
