Imran Khan Resents Party Workers Over Defeat In Lodhran By-poll

Lodhran, (Pakistan Point News - 13th Feb, 2018) : Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Tuesday expressed resentment over his party's bitter defeat in NA-154 by-election in Lodhran. As per unofficial results, Pir Iqbal Shah of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led the by-election with 116,590 votes with Ali Khan Tareen of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came second while securing 91,230 votes. Lodhran NA-154 by-election was organised after Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) disqualified the then secretary general of PTI Jahangir Khan Tareen in a corruption probe in January.

According to initial report, PTI vote bank declined by 42,000 in the by-poll as the party members designated in the constituency on specific points failed to perform efficiently. The report says that instead of urging people to votes for PTI, the party workers were only limited to pomp and show. Moreover, the local leadership also remained busy in the protocol of party leadership coming from the other city who also merely gave importance to media coverage. Some violations were also made by the government side. Besides this, over-confidence of PTI leadership also resulted in defeat.
