LAHORE,(Pakistan Point News - 10th Feb, 2018 ) : Prosecutor in the murder case of seven-year-old Zainab Ansari said that main suspect Imran Ali is likely to get indicted on Monday. Anti-Terrorism Court heard the case against Imran Ali at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat prison. The copies of the challan were provided to the lawyers of both parties in the hearing today. The prosutor stated that witnesses in the case have been summoned on Monday.

Imran Ali, 23, was arrested from Kasur after his DNA matched with samples collected from the body of Zainab Ansari. The ATC granted police a 14-day judicial remand of the suspect after his detailed challan submitted in court by the prosecution. The deputy prosecutor general told the court that the suspect had already confessed to his involvement in the rape and murder of seven children in Kasur during the interrogation.

ATC judge Sajjad Ahmed subsequently remanded the suspect to judicial custody and announced that the trial of the case would be held in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail. The prosecutor has also requested the court to hold the trial inside the jail for security reasons. The verdict will be based on witness statements, according to the court. The judge further said that hearings of the trial will be conducted on a daily basis and the case will be completed within seven days. Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, Imran Ali’s lawyer said that DNA test had no legal standing.
