KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -7th Sept,2016) : Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) is dedicated to facilitate its beneficiaries to the maximum possible extent in a transparent manner. In this context, BISP is introducing biometrics based payment system for the upcoming BISP cash grant tranche of September 2016 in Mirpur Khas Division.
This will help increase the efficiency of providing financial assistance to beneficiaries, said Naeem Anwar, Director General, BISP Sindh in a news release issued here on Wednesday. He said BISP awards financial support of Rs 4,700 to more than 1.8 million beneficiaries of Sindh on quarterly basis via Benazir Debit Card (BDC), diverting the payment system to biometrics will eradicate the role of middleman.
Many BISP beneficiaries were illiterate and were unable to operate ATMs, for this simple task, some people charge a fee from beneficiaries, he added. The beneficiaries would be able to draw the amount by using their CNIC along with biometrics at particular OMNI or EASY PAISA SHOPS.
Biometrics system for withdrawing BISP grant would be introduced across the country after effective tests phase. With the biometrics verification system (BVS), the BISP management makes easy the process of providing funds to the eligible beneficiaries and at the same time the chances of corruption or illegal withdrawal of cash are minimized.
