UN chief asked to take notice of Indian rhetoric

The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani has appealed to the Secretary General of the United Nations to take notice of the provocative statements of Indian leaders, use influence to halt the bloodshed in the occupied territory and take steps for settlement of Kashmir dispute as per relevant UN resolutions.

SRINAGAR, (Pakistan Point News - 06th Feb, 2018) : The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani has appealed to the Secretary General of the United Nations to take notice of the provocative statements of Indian leaders, use influence to halt the bloodshed in the occupied territory and take steps for settlement of Kashmir dispute as per relevant UN resolutions. Syed Ali Geelani while reacting to the recent statement of Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Indian leaders were following their bigoted dogma and were creating war euphoria in the region.

Rajnath in his statement had said that the Indian government had directed its forces to shoot limitless bullets against Pakistani forces on the Line of Control. Geelani said New Delhi’s narratives reflect negative and egoistic approach. He emphasized that no amount of incarcerations and torture could dissuade the Kashmiri people from pursuing their inalienable right to self-determination. The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar urged India and Pakistan to engage in dialogue over Kashmir to avert a big catastrophe in the region.

He said that killings and repression were breaking all records in Jammu and Kashmir. Indian police arrested the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik during a raid on the party head office in Srinagar, today. A contingent of Indian police broke into the JKLF office at Aabi Guzar and arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik along with a party activist, Ghulam Muhammad Dar. Two policemen were killed in an attack on a police party in Srinagar, today.

In another incident, unknown attackers assaulted an Indian army camp with rifle grenade at Kakapora in Pulwama district. Dukhtaran-e-Millat held programmes in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day in various areas of the occupied territory. The Dukhtaran activists raised flags and banners and marched at several places. Kashmiris and Pakistanis, joined by members of Sikh community, staged a demonstration in New York’s Times Square to denounce Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir. They called on the United Nations to honour its pledge to grant the Kashmiris their right of self-determination.
