Senate Committee expresses displeasure over insufficient staff at NHA

The Senate Standing Committee on Communications has expressed its displeasure over the insufficient staff at National Highway Authority offices in Baluchistan and directed the NHA to appoint sufficient staff at lower and higher levels for efficient service delivery.

ISLAMABAD, (Pakistan Point News - 06th Feb, 2018) : The Senate Standing Committee on Communications has expressed its displeasure over the insufficient staff at National Highway Authority offices in Baluchistan and directed the NHA to appoint sufficient staff at lower and higher levels for efficient service delivery. The Committee was given a detailed briefing on the overall breakup of staff deputed in Baluchistan. The Committee met the Parliament Lodges under the Chairmanship of Senator Daud Khan Achakzai, Advocate and was attended among others by Senators Sajjad Hussain Turi, Yousaf Badini, Kamil Ali Agha, Ashok Kumar and Liaqat Khan Tarakai.

Minister for Communication and high ranking officials of the ministry were also present during the meeting. The Committee also directed the NHA to repatriate the deputationists to their parent departments as per Supreme Court decisions. It was informed that the NHA is working on preparing a detailed report in this regard which would also be shared with the committee. The Committee expressed its concern over the delayed services of the postal service in Baluchistan. The Committee was briefed that shortage of staff and security situation has hampered the efficient service delivery, however, new recruitment id being made under Aghaz e Haqooq Baluchistan and 171 posts in postal service department would be filled to improve the service delivery. The Committee was also informed about the status of recommendations given in previous meetings.
