Pro-freedom leadership thanks Pakistan

Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the Deputy Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Mufti Nasirul Islam have thanked the government and the people of Pakistan for their unflinching support to the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

SRINAGAR, (Pakistan Point News - 05th Feb, 2018) : Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the Deputy Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Mufti Nasirul islam have thanked the government and the people of Pakistan for their unflinching support to the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, in his message on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, Monday, said the people of Jammu and Kashmir are challenging a big power and Pakistan is the only country that extends its continuous support to their cause.

The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said the Kashmiris have always appreciated the support of Pakistan, at all levels, despite difficult and testing times for the country itself. Mufti Nasirul Islam said that Pakistan had made tireless efforts in raising the Kashmir dispute at all international forums. Hurriyat leaders Hilal Ahmad War, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Mir Shahid Saleem, Bilal Siddiqui, Farida Behanji, Yasmeen Raja, Fazle Haq Qureshi, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Javed Ahmad Mir, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo and others in their messages also thanked Pakistan for observing the day.

The Chairman of Muslim Deeni Mahaz, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo completed 25 years of imprisonment in Indian jails, today. Dr Fakhtoo who was arrested in February 1993 said to media men when he was brought to a local hospital that he was in prison because of his political belief. He pointed out that the Indian government offered him a deal eight times during his incarceration, which he declined. Meanwhile, many youth including a woman were injured after Indian troops opened fire on protesters in a Kaimoh village in Kulgam district.

The injured woman, identified as Reena was admitted to a hospital for treatment. The troops ransacked houses and thrashed inmates during the operation. Indian police arrested Hurriyat leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza when he was scheduled to visit different areas of South Kashmir. He was lodged at Saddar Police station in Islamabad district. A Delhi Court extended the judicial remand of Shahid Yousuf, detained in Tihar jail, up to March 7, 2018.

According to the data issued by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, Indian troops killed 515 people including women and teenage boys after the custodial killing of renowned commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani on July 8th in 2016. The killings included 179 youth who were hit by pellets and bullets during peaceful demonstrations. The troops damaged over 65,815 residential houses and other structures and disgraced or molested 757 women during the period.

Meanwhile, since January 1989 till today, Indian troops martyred 94,907 innocent Kashmiris. In Brussels, the Kashmir Council EU organized a demonstration to express solidarity with oppressed people of Indian occupied Kashmir. A large number of people from all walks of life including representatives of different NGOs and human rights organizations attended the function. Kashmir Solidarity demonstrations were also held in Italy and Lisbon, which were organized by Tehreek-e-Kashmir. The board of Directors of the Kashmiri American Council at a meeting in Washington deliberated on various issues related to the Kashmir freedom movement. The meeting agreed to a 10-point plan to be pursued during the current year.
