ISLAMABAD, (Pakistan Point News - 03rd Feb, 2018 ) : Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed has petitioned Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) seeking disqualification of Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The petition alleges the government of having ignored directions of the top court in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) agreement that cost Pakistan billions of Dollars. The plea alleges PM Abbasi, who then was serving as the petroleum minister, of pressurizing Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Managing Director (MD) and Director General (DG) of Sui Northern, resorting to graft and costing billions to the national treasury.

Copies of the petition filed with the top court today by AML chief Sheikh Rasheed In addition to disqualification of the premier, AML chief has sought the top court to sack chief of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). While talking to the media outside the apex court, the party chief said that ousted premier Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz among all Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders are ‘material’ of prisons.

He claimed that Daniyal Aziz, Nehal Hashmi and Talal Chaudhry are all ill-fated. AML chief had earlier filed a petition with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in August 2017 against PM Abbasi over ‘costlier’ LNG agreement. He had alleged that ‘big Names’ were involved in graft over LNG pact that ranged to at least Rs 200billion. According to the plea filed with ECP, PM Abbasi is no longer ‘Saadiq’ and ‘Ameen’ following the LNG agreement signed with Qatar and thus should be disqualified. PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was sworn in to the office in August 2017 after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified in a corruption probe on July 28 by the apex court.
