Bilawal Bhutto slams PML-N, demands to withdraw petrol price hike decision

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the government’s move to increase the petrol price by Rs 2.98/litre.

KARACHI, (Pakistan Point News - 01st Feb, 2018) : Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the government’s move to increase the petrol price by Rs 2.98/litre. Criticizing PML-N, Bilawal said that it seems Sharif brothers are adamant to build another Jati Umra in some new country. “Nation’s economic killing will not be tolerated in any case,” he asserted. Bilawal maintained that Sharif brothers intend to suck the last drop of blood of the public.

The PPP chairman has demanded the government to immediately take back the price hike decision. He declared that PPP will confront PML-N’s every economic attack on all forums. On the other hand, a miscellaneous petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against petrol’s price hike. Federal government, Ogra and other concerned departments have been made parties in the case. The plea says that government’s statement pertaining to increase in prices of petroleum products is baseless.

It notifies that the price hike is due to the recovery of additional sales tax. The plea further maintains that more than 15% sales tax on petroleum products in unconstitutional therefore; the court should term it invalid and direct decrease in the prices. A resolution was also submitted in the Punjab Assembly condemning the increase in petrol prices. It says that the government is continuously raising the prices from the past several months due to which inflation is swelling in the country. The resolution has demanded that the government should withdraw its decision immediately.
