Shehbaz, Achakzai condemn opposition tirade against Parliament

LAHORE:(Pakistan Point News - 19th Jan, 2018 ) : Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai during a meeting here Friday condemned the disrespecting of Parliament in the anti-government rally held on January 17. Shehbaz and Achakzai vowed to work together for the stability of democratic system, and said democracy is paramount to ensuring progress in the country. All political parties should play their part for a stable democracy, rise above individual interest and work for the country’s interest, Shehbaz said.

The chief minister added that the motives of political forces who want anarchy in the country are an open secret. Hitting out at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for cursing parliament in multi-party opposition protest, he said parliament should be accorded due respect. Shahbaz said democracy was the name of service of people, which was impossible with mere slogans and hollow claims. He said it was responsibility of every political party to work towards strengthening democracy, which was essential for progress and prosperity of the country.

The chief minister urged that personal interests should be subsidiary in importance to the national interests. He said designs of those political leaders who wanted instability in the country were not hidden from anyone. Pakistan was in dire need of cohesion and unity, the chief minister pointed out. The two leaders also discussed political developments in Balochistan as well as the upcoming Senate elections. The two leaders resolved to work together for strengthening democratic polity in the country.
