Punjab govt devises booklet “Pakeeza Zindagi” to protect children from abuse: Rana Mashhood

Punjab Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that material related to stoppage of child abuse will be made part of school curriculum so that no one could dare exploit the innocent kids. He disclosed that Punjab government has prepared a booklet consisted of more than 24 points namely “Pakeeza Zindagi.”

LAHORE, (Pakistan Point News - 17th Jan, 2018) : Punjab Minister for Schools education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that material related to stoppage of child abuse will be made part of school curriculum so that no one could dare exploit the innocent kids. He disclosed that Punjab government has prepared a booklet consisted of more than 24 points namely “Pakeeza Zindagi.” Addressing an important press conference in the committee room of Punjab Curriculum and Textbook board, here on Wednesday, Rana Mashhood said that important material will be added in this booklet and four lakh copies of this booklet will be published for free distribution in general public, students, teachers and their parents across the province.

He said that this booklet will guide the children and their parents about safety of children from such heinous crimes. Important information regarding children’s activities at their homes, schools and in the society along-with health-tips will be included in it. Similarly, regular teacher- parent meetings will also be held so that parents could remain abreast of activities of their kids. He said that teams consisting of educationists and psychiatrists will start their work to sensitize the students about issues related to their safety from culprits.

Rana Mashhood emphasized that role of the national media is key to launch awareness raising campaign to stop child abuse at the grassroots. Workshops, seminars will also be conducted for the awareness of the children, parents and the teachers. We are also working on teachers’ training, he added. The Minister also condemned the rape-cum-murder of a three-year old girl in Mardan district of KPK and asked if the opposition leaders ensure justice to this hapless girl of the KPK he said that it was better that instead of politics on dead bodies the opposition should have gone to the house of bereaved family to console with them.

He made it clear that Muslim League-N does not believe politics over dead bodies and maintained that elements involved in the sit-in are in fact desirous of promoting anarchy in the country so that the CPEC could be hampered. He said that incidents of cruelty against innocent children in the KPK show that PTI has been failed there. Special Secretary Rana Hassan Akhtar, Chairman PCTB Muhammad Akram, MD PCTB Abdul Qayyum and others were present on the occasion.
