Attack on Rao Anwar: Banned TTP claims responsibility

Banned Tehreek Taliban Pakistan has claimed the responsibility of suspected suicide attack on SSP Malir Rao Anwar Yesterday and issued the image of an attacker.

KARACHI, (Pakistan Point News -  17th Jan, 2018) : Banned Tehreek Taliban Pakistan has claimed the responsibility of suspected suicide attack on SSP Malir Rao Anwar Yesterday and issued the image of an attacker. On the other hand, Karachi police on Wednesday registered a first information report (FIR) against suspects responsible for a suicide attack on Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar. The sections of murder, encounter, explosives and terrorism were included in the case.

According to police officers, two accomplices of the attacker were killed in retaliation while two 9mm pistols were also recovered from their possession. A day earlier, Anwar’s convoy had been ambushed by assailants as he was heading towards his home in Malir Cantt. A suicide bomber blew himself up near the SSP’s convoy in an attempt on his life, but Anwar escaped unhurt while two other attackers were killed in retaliatory fire by policemen.
