Senegalese president arrived in Pakistan

Islamabad, (Pakistan Point News – 6th September, 2016) : The President of Senegal, Mr. Macky Sall along with a 34 member delegation has arrived in Pakistan on 2day-visit. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz extended an invitation to Senegalese president to visit Pakistan. The last high-level bilateral visit between the two countries was that of the former President Abdoulaye Wade to Pakistan in March 2001. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif received and welcomed the President of Senegal at Nurkhan Airbase today.

Formal welcome ceremony was held to greet the dignitary. The President of Senegal was presented a guard of honor by a smartly turned out contingent of armed forces. He inspected the guard of honor and took the salute. On this occasion, national anthems of the two countries were also played. One on one meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President of Senegal Macky Sall has begun at Prime Minister House in Islamabad. The Prime Minister warmly greeted the distinguished guest and referred to his cordial meetings with him in Saudi Arabia and New York.

The President of Senegal will be calling on the Prime Minister of Pakistan followed by delegation level talks during the visit."Pakistan and Senegal enjoy close and cordial relations which are based on a common faith and identity of views on regional and global issues," the Foreign Office stated. Both sides will be exploring the possibilities of further strengthening existing bilateral ties in various fields of mutual interest during the visit. There will be renewed focus on elevating economic and trade relations and defiance cooperation between the two countries. In a previous meeting between President Sall and Prime Minister Sharif on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Senegal had shown interest to procure defense equipment from Pakistan.
