Sindh govt providing unprecedented health facilities to people of Thar: Sindh CM

Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah Saturday said Sindh government was providing unprecedented health facilities to the people of Thar

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jan, 2018 ) :Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah Saturday said Sindh government was providing unprecedented health facilities to the people of Thar.

Talking to media, he said the child mortality in Tharparkar was not above the average of any other district in the country, challenging the reports and criticism of greater number of deaths due to malnutrition in Tharparkar.

"The health facilities which have been provided for people of Tharparkar by the PPP's Sindh government are unprecedented. Tharparkar's hospitals and health centers never had the facilities before which they have now," he claimed.

He said former president Asif Ali Zardari remained imprisoned for over 8 years and faced courageously all the politically oriented cases which were made against him. "He was even subjected to torture in jail but he never spoke against any institution.

He fought legal battle and was freed from all the cases," he claimed. The chief minister also expressed concern over the rising national debt saying that the sum had increased to $155 billion from $100 billion.

Responding to a question, he said the perception that Hyderabad had been ignored in terms of infrastructure development and civic facilities, was wrong.

He said his government had carried out extensive development works in the sectors of education, roads, water supply and others.

Replying to a question about solid waste management in Hyderabad, he said it was responsibility of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) adding that his provincial government had been providing required funds to the HMC.

"Although Sindh Solid Waste Management board (SSWMB) has been formed, it can only work if the HMC allowed it like the local governments in four districts of Karachi," he added. He advised the HMC's elected representatives to coordinate with the SSWMB and claimed that the provincial government had time and again approached the HMC in that regard but to no avail.

The chief minister condemned the rape and murder of 7-year old girl in Kasur. He said the government teachers protesting in Karachi were not subjected to baton charge, water canon and tear gas shelling during a recent protest until they remained non-violent. "We believe in democracy, freedom of expression but we can't let anyone to destroy peace," he said.
