PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jan, 2018 ) :Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi, Chairman Senate Functional Committee on Devolution Process under 18th Amendment has said that education played key role in the progress and development of the country saying allocation of maximum budget for education was inevitable to meet the desired goals.
He expressed these views while chairing a review meeting on the implementation of 18th Amendment here at Islamia College on Friday. The meeting was attended by the members of the senate functional committee and Vice Chancellors of the public sector universities of the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.
He said that the subject of higher education has been devolved to the provinces after the passage of 18th amendment. The 18th amendment is crystal clear about the higher education, he maintained.
Out of four federating units, only Punjab and Sindh provinces have established Higher Education Commissions. The purpose of the visit by the functional committee is to ascertain as to how much progress has been made after the devolution of higher education to the provinces, he concluded.
