ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Jan, 2018 ) :The National Assembly's Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) on Tuesday recommended that the The Tribal Areas Rewaj Bill, 2017 might be referred to the Standing Committee on Law and Justice for further consideration.

The committee, which met here under the chairmanship of Muhammad Jamal ud Din, considered The Tribal Areas Rewaj Bill, 2017. Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) pointed out that the said bill pertained to the Ministry of Law and Justice as it involved/required amendments in the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) which was also endorsed by the Assistant Draftsman Muhammad Aslam M/o Law and Justice who was present during the meeting, according to a press release.

The committee also discussed the recent recruitments in the Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) and directed its head to appoint local people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on non technical posts.

Briefing the committee on approval of schedule of New Expenditures (SNEs), the additional chief secretary said proposals for creation of 5,545 posts of different categories, pertaining to different departments of FATA, had been submitted to the Finance Division in 2015-16 and 2016-17 for approval.

Some 2,293 posts were prioritized on the directive of the Senate's Standing Committee on Finance issued in its meeting October 3, 2017 in the first phase, wherein the Finance Division agreed to the creation of only 1,440 posts.

The committee strongly recommended to the Federal Government (Ministry of Finance and Ministry of SAFRON) to approve the creation of remaining 4,210 posts on priority, which had been pending with the Finance Division, Islamabad, for the last 4-5 years.

Endorsing the committee's recommendation the Federal Minister for SAFRON assured that he would try at his level best to include the remaining posts in the FATA reforms. He also directed the Additional Chief Secretary, FATA to work out all the details in that regard.

The meeting was attended by members of the National Assembly Begum Tahira Bukhari, Sheikh Fayyaz-ud-Din, Ghulam Muhammad Lali, Aftab Shaban Mirani, Shahjahan Baloch, Qaiser Jamal, Nasir Khan, Muhammad Kamal Malik, Bilal Rehman, Bismillah Khan and Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, besides Minister for States and Frontier Regions and the ministry officials.
