MONTREAL,(APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -5th Sep,2016) - Germany's Caroline Masson shook off a double bogey on the opening hole to claim her maiden LPGA Tour win Sunday with a one-shot victory at the Manulife Classic.
Masson closed with a five-under-par 67 to finish at 16-under 272, edging Australia's Minjee Lee, France's Karine Icher and third-round leader Lee Mi-Hyang of South Korea by one shot at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Toronto, Ontario.
"It's hard to believe. I mean it really is," said the 27-year-old Masson, who overcame a three-shot deficit to win.
"Obviously, I was in a good position coming into today, and I was thinking, well, if I can shoot a really good round, I might have a chance, but I was totally not expecting it." Mason recovered quickly from her double bogey on the first hole by posting nine birdies.
She became just the second European winner this year on the LPGA Tour which is dominated by Asians. Masson birdied the next three holes after the double bogey before she bogeyed number five. She then had a birdie run with four straight from No. 9 to No. 12 and added a bogey and birdie coming in.
