Aamir Shehzad Wins 30th KP Snooker Championship

Promising Aamir Shehzad of Azad Jammu and Kashmir upset international Shah Khan of Peshawar in the final of the 30th Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Men Snooker Championship played at Makan Bagh Sports Complex Mingora Swat on Thursday
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Dec, 2017 ) :Promising Aamir Shehzad of Azad Jammu and Kashmir upset international Shah Khan of Peshawar in the final of the 30th Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Men Snooker Championship played at Makan Bagh sports Complex Mingora Swat on Thursday.
Former Sports Minister and Vice President Pakistan Olympic Association Syed Aqil Shah was the chief guest on this occasion. President KP Snooker and Billiard Association Zulfiqar Ali Butt, Secretary Advocate Aamir Sabir, President KP Badminton Association Zafar Ali Khan, officials and large number of spectators were also present in the indoor hall by witnessing the thrilling final in a pen down silence.
It was the second time that Aamir Shehzad qualifying for the final and last time he was defeated by strong title contender Shah Khan in the final but this time Shah Khan lost the final by 5-1. Shah Khan, a top national ranking player, did strong resistance but overall Aamir Shehzad dominated the proceedings and marched into victory.
Aamir Shehzad also made a break of 104 in the third frame besides winning the other frames at 85-7, 92-24, 105-5, 22-87 and 90-6. Aamir had a break of 66, 72, 104, and 88 points in the four sets while Shah Khan recorded a break of 71 in the fourth frame.
Both Shah Khan and Aamir Shehzad have good national ranking and among 10 top ranking players.
Speaking on this occasion, Zulfiqar Butt said that they have also changed the whole format of the KP Snooker Cup.
Now there will a draw of 32 players instead of 64 players. He said from now onward each of the district has been informed that they would hold the first phase of the KP Snooker Cup's 31st edition first at district level and among them 32 would qualify.
Out of the 32 draw four players each would qualify for the Inter-Divisional Round and among them four would move to Provincial level. The Cup will be played on league basis instead of knock-out so that maximum participation would be given to the players at Divisional and Regional levels.
In his speech, Syed Aqil Shah lauded the organizing committee for holding the event in which continued for a month in all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He also thanked DG Sports Junaid Khan for announcing a snooker academy in the premises of newly constructed pavilion of the Qayyum Sports Complex.
He said DG Youth Asfandyar Khan Khattak has already announced two snooker table of international standard to be installed there. At the end, the chief guest gave away winners and runners-up trophies and cash prizes.
