Sindh University Brings Out Awareness Walk On World Tsunami Day

The Centre for Coastal and Delta Studies University of Sindh Thatta Campus organized an awareness walk in context to World Tsunami Day aimed to commemorate the victims of Tsunami disasters
HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2017 ) :The Centre for Coastal and Delta Studies University of Sindh Thatta Campus organized an awareness walk in context to World Tsunami Day aimed to commemorate the victims of Tsunami disasters.
The university spokesman informed here on Tuesday that walk started from University of Sindh Thatta Campus and concluded at Press Club, Makli Thatta with participation of large numbers of students, faculty members of University of Sindh campus Thatta, representatives from civil society and NGOs.
The purpose of the walk was to raise awareness on this years UNISDR aimed at reducing the number of affected people by disasters and to promote the importance of preparedness at both; community and district authority level.
The Director, Centre for Coastal and Delta Studies, University of Sindh Campus Thatta Prof. Dr. Mukhtiar Ahmed Mahar highlighted the current scenario of climate change, coastal issues, strategies, future challenges and academic perspectives. Besides, Sajjad Hyder Shah and Zeeshan Azmat also shared their views on the importance of such awareness.
