LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2017 ) :Digitalization of books through technology is contributing to improving, generating interest and reviving the reading habits by making ebooks available a click away, thus facilitating readers to have 24/7 worldwide access to libraries.
Dr Umar Saif, founding Vice Chancellor of Information Technology University of the Punjab, Chairman Punjab Information Technology board (PITB) and Adviser to the CM Punjab, said this while inaugurating the 3rd ITU Book Fair here at Arfa Kareem Software Technology Park on Tuesday.
Dr Umar Saif said that the ITU Punjab has managed to extend access to 152,000 ebooks through ITU digital library in Arfa Software Technology Park campus. The online access to eBooks covers a wide variety of content across all important subject areas and fields.
This huge online source is an opportunity for optimum use by the students and other interested persons.
Dr Umar ordered for adding more quality eBooks relating to electronics, technology, economy and other important subjects for the benefit of the academia and students.
The visitors were requested to recommend from the displayed books at the fair for placing them in the ITU library. Leading publishers and booksellers displayed on various stalls, large number of latest collections, text, reference, science and technology, communication, literature, history and other general books on all academic disciplines and of general interest.
In connection with the library and learning week, a talk on "Afkar-e-Taza Se Namood" by Mian Iqbal Salahuddin is being organized on Wednesday. Mian Iqbal is the president of Dabistan-e-Iqbal. His talk will focus on Iqbal's philosophy of dynamic and creative education for the Muslim youth.
