Workshop On Organic Food Held

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th August, 2016) : Pakistan Council of Science & Technology (PCST) organised a national workshop on 'Organic food and Health: Avenues of Innovation and Entrepreneurship', here at the University of Management and Technology on Monday. Dr Farrukh Javed, Punjab Minister for Agriculture, vice chancellors of various universities, eminent scientists, representatives of foreign missions and international donors also attended it. Addressing the workshop, Dr Farrukh Javed appreciated the initiative of the PCST for creating awareness regarding food security, especially organic food security.
He encouraged the researchers to explore more in the field of organic farming. Prof Dr Anwar-ul-Hassan Gilani, chairman PCST, said the workshop had provided an opportunity to scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, organic farmers and members of civil society to share ideas and knowledge about various aspects of organic food and health. Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, VC University of Veterinary and Animal Science, said organic food is healthier and has advantages over non-organic food.
