US envoy visits Sudan

WASHINGTON,(Pakistan Point News - APP -29th Augst,2016) : The US special envoy for Sudan and South Sudan is visiting Khartoum and the war-wracked Blue Nile border state from Sunday, American officials said. Earlier this month, US Secretary of State John Kerry announced an additional $138 million in aid for South Sudan, where 2.5 million people have been uprooted by war since December 2013 and close to half the population is in need of emergency food aid. His envoy, Donald Booth, will meet with a "range of people in Blue Nile State affected by the conflict" during his visit ending Thursday, the State Department said in a statement. In addition to government officials, Booth is due to hold talks with community leaders and other civil society representatives, as well as staff from international organizations.
