Child Labour Survey To Be Completed In September

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th August, 2016) : The third and final phase of the Provincial Child Labour Survey will be completed in next month. The 80 percent field work of Child Labour Survey conducted by Bureau of Statistics (BoS) in different districts of the province under the second phase has already been completed, an official of BoS told APP here on Saturday. He said that the districts include Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar, Hafizabad, Okara, Sheikhupura, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanewal, Sialkot, Gujranwala and Multan.

He said that as many as 4524 children from the age of 5 to 14 years, involved in child labour at auto workshops, petrol pumps, service stations, hotels and restaurants have already been identified in the previous phases of the survey.

He said that the instructions had been issued to the concerned officers to accelerate the pace of work on the project for the elimination of child labour.

Social mobilization is being given priority to convince the parents of the children involved in child labour and their employers, so that they could be motivated to educate these children.
