850 Ton Garbage Being Shifted To Lossar Daily

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -27th Augst,2016) : Around 850 ton waste being collected from the city is shifted to Lossar from the transit point of Liaqat Bagh daily, Managing Director (MD) Rawalpindi Solid Waste Management Company (RSWMC) Irfan Qureshi told APP here Saturday. The MD said waste lifted from various parts of the city is first shifted to Liaqat bagh transit point in mini vans and later the Dumpers shift it to Lossar on Chak Beli Road. He further said the entire waste is cleared from the transit point at 6pm while the waste collected in the night is removed in the wee hours of the day. Meanwhile, RSWMC has chalked out a program to remove around 7000 ton waste in Rawal and Potohar town areas during Eid-ul-Azha. Around 2500 sanitary workers will be deployed during the drive, adding special honorarium would be given to them.
He said 45 additional dumpers, 150 mini dumpers, 250 handcarts, 40 compactors would be part of the special drive to remove the remains from every nook and corner of the city. He said Rawal Town has been divided into four sectors to make effective the cleanliness arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha while a control room would also be set up. "All four sectors will work under the control room.
The residents have been asked to contact on Helpline number 1139 for any complaint," Qureshi said. The MD informed that the leaves of the staff have been cancelled and 2500 sanitary workers and officials of the department will ensure cleanliness during the Eid days. Nine collection points would be set up for the convenience of the residents at Union Council level, he informed.
