Asia Cup 2025: India, Pakistan to lock horns on September 7 in Dubai

Asia Cup 2025 will be held as scheduled in United Arab Emirates (UAE), with tournament set to kick off on either September 4 or 5

MUMBAI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News- July 2nd, 2025) The date for the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025 clash between traditional cricket rivals Pakistan and India has been officially announced.

Despite rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident, speculation about the cancellation of the Asia Cup 2025 has been laid to rest. The high-stakes clash between the two cricketing giants is now officially confirmed.

According to the latest reports, the Asia Cup 2025 will be held as scheduled in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the tournament set to kick off on either September 4 or 5. The headline fixture between India and Pakistan is locked in for September 7 in Dubai.

This edition of the Asia Cup will follow the T20 format, featuring a group stage followed by a Super Four round. Should both teams qualify for the Super Four, they will face each other again on September 14. A potential third showdown is expected in the final, scheduled for September 21.

Although India holds the official hosting rights, political tensions and security concerns have prompted the relocation of the event to UAE through mutual agreement — with India retaining nominal hosting status.

An Indian broadcaster confirmed the participation of their national team, stating, “The tournament will be held in September, and our team will play.”

An Indian representative, according to a report, commented, “Regardless of diplomatic strain, India has never refused to play against Pakistan in ICC events. One major reason is the highly profitable media rights associated with these matches, most of which are held by Indian broadcasters.”

The last encounter between India and Pakistan also took place in Dubai during Champions Trophy 2025. India has not toured Pakistan since 2008, choosing instead to play neutral-venue matches due to ongoing political disputes.

Despite India’s continued reluctance to tour Pakistan, the cricket fans on both sides of the border are eagerly awaiting the iconic rivalry to unfold once again in Asia Cup 2025.
