Maryam Nawaz says success of Operation Bunyad-e-Marsoos has frightened hostile elements and made it essential to treat Muharram as a sensitive time
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 24th, 2025) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday said that the success of Operation Bunyad-e-Marsous alarmed negative forces, which is why Muharram should be considered a sensitive period, and those spreading hateful content on social media must be arrested immediately.
Chairing a meeting on maintaining law and order during Muharram, CM Maryam Nawaz instructed strict security measures and demanded an emergency plan from the administration.
During the meeting, she stated that the success of Operation Bunyad-e-Marsoos has frightened hostile elements, making it essential to treat Muharram as a sensitive time. “The government's authority should be visible everywhere,” she emphasized.
The meeting, presided over by the Chief Minister, decided that individuals spreading hate speech on social media during Muharram would be arrested immediately. A complete ban will be enforced on drone use in Punjab during the month, and violations will be dealt with according to the law.
She also directed authorities to ensure enforcement of the ban on wall chalking.
CM Maryam Nawaz ordered preventive measures against heatstroke for mourners and directed the deployment of field hospitals and clinics-on-wheels along Ashura processions.
She further instructed citizens to strictly follow the Muharram code of conduct, warning that a zero-tolerance policy will be applied in case of violations.
