A SC constitutional bench announces reserved verdict with a 3-2 majority, and affirms that transfer of judges was in accordance with Constitution
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 19th, 2025) The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday dismissed the petitions filed against the transfer of judges to the Islamabad High Court, declaring the transfers constitutional in a majority decision.
A SC constitutional bench announced the reserved verdict with a 3-2 majority, and affirmed that the transfer of judges was in accordance with the Constitution. The judgment was delivered by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.
As per the ruling, Justice Sarfraz Dogar will continue serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.
The petitions had challenged the presidential order through which several judges from other high courts were transferred to the Islamabad High Court.
