Ishaq Dar says misleading misinformation is being spread and people must exercise caution
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 16th, 2025) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that war is no joke and that Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programs are solely for its own defense.
While addressing the Senate, Dar stated that misleading misinformation is being spread and people must exercise caution. He referred to a video clip circulating about former U.S. President Donald Trump and later clarified it was AI-generated.
He noted that since June 13, numerous fake news items have surfaced, including an old interview of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu from 2011. “In such a sensitive situation, everyone must act responsibly. We need to be vigilant as very dangerous and misleading narratives are being spread. There should be clarity regarding fake news,” he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that this is not a child’s play, but a serious conflict. “War is no joke. Our nuclear and missile programs are for our protection. If India acts aggressively, it will face a stronger response than before.”
He added that the foreign ministers of Oman and Iran kept him informed throughout the developments. “As a member of the UN Security Council, Pakistan played its role regarding a meeting on the situation. Iran appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in this regard, and their Foreign Minister remained in constant contact with me during the negotiations.”
Dar further revealed that after the initial attack, he spoke to Iran’s Foreign Minister who said, “We will respond to this one, but if Israel does not attack again, we are ready to return to the negotiating table.”
He said Pakistan conveyed Iran’s stance to other countries and emphasized that there is still time to stop Israel. “We told Iran we are ready to facilitate in the negotiation process,” he added.
