Dubai: (Pakistan Point News - 15 June, 2025) Dubai Police, through their Anti-Fraud Centre, have successfully arrested a cyber gang that specialized in deceiving victims through fake links posing as well-known entities such as restaurants, delivery services, and promotional campaigns.
In a statement, Dubai Police cautioned residents against clicking on suspicious links, even if they appear to come from trusted sources. The public has been urged to report any suspicious activity via the nearest police station, the ‘Police Eye’ feature on the Dubai Police App, or the eCrime platform.
The gang’s scheme involved sending fake SMS messages and links impersonating popular brands and services. Victims who clicked the links and submitted their banking details unknowingly enabled the gang to access and withdraw funds from their accounts.
The Anti-Fraud Centre, in coordination with relevant authorities, analysed the digital footprint of these scams and successfully identified the suspects. The operation led to the arrest of the gang members and the confiscation of devices used to carry out the cybercrimes.
