Israeli military spokesperson Brigadier General Effi Defrin says all unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were successfully neutralized before reaching their targets
JERUSALEM: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 13rd, 2025) Tensions between Iran and Israel escalated dramatically after the Israeli military claimed to have intercepted 100 drones launched by Iran in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes.
According to Israeli military spokesperson Brigadier General Effi Defrin, all unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were successfully neutralized before reaching their targets.
In a statement, Brig. Gen. Defrin further revealed that the overnight Israeli strikes resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian military officials, including Iran's Chief of Staff, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the head of Iran’s emergency command.
The Israeli airstrikes, launched late last night, reportedly targeted Iran's nuclear infrastructure along with dozens of other strategic military sites. British media, citing Iranian state television, reported that two senior Iranian nuclear scientists were among those killed in the strikes.
One of the victims was Dr. Fereydoon Abbasi, a former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), the agency responsible for the country’s nuclear facilities. Dr. Abbasi had previously survived an assassination attempt in Tehran in 2010.
The second victim was Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, president of Islamic Azad University in Tehran and a prominent figure in Iran's academic and scientific circles.
