Mohammad Yousuf Resigns from Coaching Role at PCB

Sources say Yousuf submitted his resignation to PCB officials, saying that due to private engagements, he can no longer dedicate necessary time to his roles

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 12nd, 2025) Former Test cricketer Mohammad Yousuf on Thursday formally resigned from his coaching responsibilities with the Pakistan cricket board (PCB), citing personal commitments.

The sources said that Yousuf submitted his resignation to PCB officials, stating that due to private engagements, he can no longer dedicate the necessary time to his roles.

Yousuf was serving as the batting coach at the National High Performance Centre (NHPC) and was also entrusted with the role of head coach for Pakistan's Under-19 team. Additionally, he had been involved with the national team as a batting coach in the past.

Despite plans to retain him as batting coach at the NHPC in the new coaching setup, Yousuf has opted to step away from all official duties, respectfully declining further involvement.

This is not the first time Yousuf has offered his resignation. He had previously stepped down in November last year, but his resignation was not accepted by then PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Now, he has once again submitted his resignation, which is expected to be accepted.

Yousuf, widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s finest batsmen, transitioned into coaching after retirement and had been a key figure in the PCB’s developmental programs in recent years.
