Hajj sermon delivered at Masjid al-Nimrah, Muslims urged to uphold piety, compassion

Sheikh Dr. Saleh emphasizes that piety is source of all good, both in this world and hereafter

MAKKAH: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 5th, 2025) Imam of Masjid al-Haram, Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah, delivered the annual Hajj sermon on Saturday from Masjid al-Nimrah, urging Muslims to fear Allah, uphold piety, and treat others with kindness and justice.

The sermon, a central part of the Hajj pilgrimage, was broadcast live from Arafat with simultaneous translations in 35 languages, including urdu and English, to facilitate understanding for pilgrims from around the world.

Addressing millions gathered in the plains of Arafat for Wuquf-e-Arafah, Sheikh Dr. Saleh emphasized that piety is the source of all good, both in this world and the Hereafter. "O believers, fulfill your covenants. Worship your Lord and do not associate anyone with Him. Allah grants the best faith to the believers," he said.

The Imam urged compassion and justice towards the underprivileged, including orphans, the poor, and relatives. “Act according to the religion prescribed by Allah. He is with those who are patient,” he added.

In a message of forgiveness and reconciliation, Sheikh Saleh stated, “If you forgive your enemy, Allah will make you His close friend. Let Shariah guide your actions and always keep your faith at the center of your life.”

The pilgrims would remain in the plains of Arafat until sunset to perform the most significant rite of Hajj. After sunset, they would proceed to Muzdalifah, where they would spend the night under the open sky.

The next day, the pilgrims would return to Mina to perform Rami (the symbolic stoning of the devil) and offer animal sacrifices in accordance with the rituals of Eid al-Adha.
