ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th August, 2016) : The National Assembly will initiate debate on the recommendations finalised by an exclusive FATA Reforms Committee from September 2, 2016 to discuss future of the region as Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Friday set the date. The speaker gave this assurance in a meeting with Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz who called on the former and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah, on the directives of the prime minister, according to a PM House statement. In pursuance of the prime minister's guidelines, the Ministry of SAFRON has already created an open-ended website to cater a nationwide feedback on the proposed recommendations of FATA Reforms Committee for the prime minister.
In addition, the reports of the FATA Reforms Committee had also been sent to all Federal Ministers, Chief Ministers, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Army Staff, Naval Chief, all Corps Commanders, Director Generals FIA and IB etc.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif further directed the FATA Reforms Committee to hold meetings with KPK government and FATA parliamentarians next week.
A comprehensive feedback from the nationwide experts on FATA must also be furnished, he instructed. He said that FATA reforms were essential to national progress and we should now put an end to the endemic poverty and years of neglect in the region.
He said that the area had been facing Pakistan's highest rate of endemic poverty and lowest development indicators. It is high time to bring FATA into political and economic mainstream at par with the rest of the country, the statement said.
