Railways To Award Cash Prizes To Its Sportsmen

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -25th Augst,2016) : Pakistan Railways Sports board has announced cash incentives for its athletes who will be the medal winners in national events besides increasing their monthly contract stipends. "The gold medal winner in a national level competition will get a cash prize of Rs 50,000 ,silver medal Rs 30,000 and the bronze medal Rs 20,000 while any team winning a gold in a team event will receive Rs 300,000, silver medal Rs 200,000 and bronze medal Rs 100,000 ", said Muhammad Fayyaz Awan, President, PRSB , who is also the general manager ,Services and welfare, Pak railways after presiding the general body meeting of PRSB here on Thursday at Railways stadium. The GM Railways praised the performance of railways athletes in various national events at home and abroad and stressed the need to provide them more facilities and cash incentives in order to boost their performance. "The cash awards will be an added attraction for our athletes and sportsmen to raise the level of their performance in future sports competition and to bring glory and good name for our country as well as for our department ",he asserted. He also announced to increase the monthly contracts of railways sportsmen to Rs 30,000.
Also present on the occasion were Vice President, PRSB, Prof Dr Farhan Abadaat Ali, Secretary, Dr Aftab Iqbal Chaudhary, Sports officer, Rashid Mahmood Butt and representatives of the all the divisions of Pakistan Railways. Dr Farhan welcomed all the participants of the meeting and Dr Aftab presented the last year performance report of PRSB. Fayyaz Awan urged the participants of the meeting to launch collective efforts for bringing overall improvement in the performance of railways athletes in national sports competitions. "Pakistan Railways groomed and produced world level athletes in the past who won laurels for the country in elite sports events abroad and railways is known as a nursery to groom players to cater ever growing needs in various disciplines of sports at national level", he added. The house acknowledge the role and efforts of Dr Farhan due to which the annual grant of PRSB has been annually increased to Rs thirty million.The house also took a number of decisions for the welfare and comfort of railways athletes and the meeting adopted a unanimous resolution to take railways sports to new heights in coming years by mobilizing all the resources.
