PM Directs To Further Expedite Pace Of Implementation Of NAP

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th August, 2016) : Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Wednesday expressed satisfaction on the progress in implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) by various provincial and federal agencies and directed to further expedite the process. "The meeting resolved that eradication of the menace of terrorism was neither a choice nor an option, but imperative for our existence and survival," a statement from the PM House said after a meeting held here to review implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP). The meeting reviewed various laws governing anti-terrorism efforts and ways and means to make these more effective.
The report presented to the Prime Minister by the FATA Reforms Committee was also discussed and it was decided that the report be made public to elicit further debate and discussion towards developing a national consensus on the recommendations of the Committee.
National Security Advisor Lt Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua who is also the Convener of Implementation and Review Committee of National Action Plan, made a presentation detailing implementation status of various components of the NAP. The meeting was attended by Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Interior Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, DG ISI Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar and senior government officials.
