'No Flood Threat In River Chenab'

MULTAN,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -24th Augst,2016) : Chief Engineer Irrigation Ameer Muhammad Awan said on Wednesday that there was no threat of flood in the river Chenab as water flow in the river was normal.
He said that water level could be increased in the river Chenab by September 15 due to rainy season. He further said that there was possibility of flood in coming days as water reservoirs in India have filled due to which it may release water in the Ravi and Sutlej rivers.
He stated that all arrangements have been finalized to cope with any flood situation. Chief Engineer said that relief camps had been set-up during medium to high flood in past.
He said that they were taking report from metrological department on daily basis to monitor the flood situation. He said that flood emergency cell was also functional to provide guidance to the citizens about flood and proper monitoring of the flood like situation into the rivers.
