ISLAMABAD, (Pakistan Point News - APP - 23th August, 2016) : Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs on Tuesday constituted a sub-committee to overview the Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Saeed Ghani here at Parliament House. The sub-committee would work under the convenorship of Senator Farooq Hamid Naek and finally present report to the Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs before September 2016.
The committee was informed that Election Commission completely acknowledged the committee point of view regarding voting right of women. The committee discussed "The Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill,2016" introduced on March 7, 2016, by Senator Sherry Rehman and referred to the Committee for consideration and report. The committee Chairman Senator Saeed Ghani said the report of the committee about Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2016 would be presented to the House on September 23, 2016.
Briefing the Committee Additional Secretary said Election Commission always noted the issue of women votes and took action against those people who were involved in stopping the women from voting process under the electoral reforms 2014. Giving the example of Dir election Commission of Pakistan representative said Commission took notice of violation of rules and regulations.
