ISLAMABAD, (Pakistan Point News - APP - 23th August, 2016) : The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said that all main rivers including Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal. According to daily FFC report, the river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela & Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1541.45 feet and 1241.20 feet respectively, which are 8.55 feet & 0.80 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.
00 feet and 1242.00 feet. The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 13.412 MAF as compared to last year's 14.067 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday's Monsoon Low over Central parts of Rajasthan (India) has become less marked. Yesterday's Monsoon Low over Western Bengal & adjoining Jharkand (India) has moved Northwestwards and today lies over Northeastern Madhya Pradesh (India).
Yesterday's Shallow trough of Westerly Wave continues to prevail over Kashmir and adjoining areas. Weak Seasonal Low lies over Northern Balochistan. Moist current is penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 5000 feet. As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, scattered thunderstorm/rain is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej, besides, Southeastern Sindh during the next 24 hours.
Isolated thunderstorm/ rain may also occur over the upper catchments of Rivers Indus & Kabul including North & Northeastern Punjab i.e. Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions, besides, Bahawalpur Division during the same period. Scattered thunderstorm/rain is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi & Sutlej including Punjab and Southeastern Sindh, besides, isolated thunderstorm/rain over the upper catchments of Rivers Indus & Kabul and Northeastern Balochistan from 24 th - 25th August, 2016. No Significant rainfall event has been reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours.
