Inflation decreases by 0.12 per cent in Pakistan

Weekly inflation report issued by the Federal Bureau of Statistics shows that the annual inflation rate stood at 18.41%, with a 0.12% decrease in weekly inflation

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-August 3rd, 2024) Following the federal budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, the relentless rise in inflation started ease, with a 0.12% decrease in the inflation rate recorded over the past week.

The weekly inflation report issued by the Federal Bureau of Statistics showed that the annual inflation rate stood at 18.41%, with a 0.12% decrease in weekly inflation.

Bureau of Statistics reports said that, on an annual basis, the price of wheat flour decreased by 32%, cooking oil and ghee by 10%, eggs by 8%, and chili by 7%.

Similarly, last week saw a reduction in charges for electricity consumption up to 200 units.

Over the past year, the electricity charges for lower-income households decreased by approximately 15%, attributed to reductions in fuel price charges and fixed charges.

According to the Bureau, on an annual basis, the price of onions increased by 86%, chickpeas by 42%, and dried milk by 32%. The price of mung beans went up by 30%, and garlic by 28%.

During this period, gas charges have increased by 570%, and the cost of clothing and footwear has risen by up to 25%.
