Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch criticized the act as a further instance of indiscriminate and disproportionate Israeli aggression, which she claimed undermines both regional and global peace and security.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-August 1st, 2024) The Pakistan Foreign Office has denounced the recent killing of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, describing it as a breach of international law and global norms.
In a weekly briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch criticized the act as a further instance of indiscriminate and disproportionate Israeli aggression, which she claimed undermines both regional and global peace and security.
Baloch emphasized that such actions could lead to further escalation and called for accountability for Israel's transgressions. She urged Israel's supporters to pressure the country to halt its unlawful military operations that violate the sovereignty of other nations in the region.
Reaffirming Pakistan's stance, Baloch reiterated support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, their return to Palestine, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Additionally, Baloch referred to the latest UN Security Council report, which supports Pakistan's concern that Afghanistan hosts terrorist groups, including the banned TTP. The report suggests that the TTP could evolve into a broader regional threat and a hub for other terror groups.
She called on Afghanistan to take decisive action against these terrorist groups and ensure its territory is not used for attacks against Pakistan.
Regarding the situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Baloch urged India to reverse the unilateral measures taken since August 5, 2019, and to foster conditions for a peaceful resolution in line with Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
