Champions Trophy 2025: Journalist claims 99.9% chance Indian team will not visit Pakistan

Sports journalist Vikrat Gupta reveals that event will be held under a hybrid model

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point news-July 27th, 2024) Indian sports journalist Vikrat Gupta claimed that there was a 99.9% chance that the Indian team would not go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.

In a claim made on the social media platform of a local sports channel, the Indian journalist said that the Indian team would not go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, and the event would be held under a hybrid model.

He mentioned that the semi-finals and final match of the 2025 Champions Trophy would also be played under the hybrid model, and almost all matters would be settled in the next meeting in a week.

Previously, due to the tantrums of the Indian board last year, the Asian cricket Council (ACC) was pressured by the BCCI to refuse to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan, resulting in the tournament being played in a hybrid model in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

It is worth mentioning that in recent days, Indian media published reports that the ICC was considering moving the tournament out of Pakistan.

According to the proposed schedule, the opening match of the Champions Trophy would be played between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19 at National Stadium Karachi. Pakistan would face Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on February 24.

The Pakistan-India clash would take place on March 1 in Lahore. The semi-finals will be played in Karachi and Rawalpindi on March 5 and 6, respectively, and the final would be held at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on March 9.
