The Islamabad Police to produce Sanam Javed before the court where the Balochistan Police would seek her transit remand.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 15th, 2024) The Islamabad Police are likely to hand over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Sanam Javed to the Balochistan Police, the sources said on Monday (today).
Sanam Javed would soon be presented at the G-11 court, where the Balochistan Police would request a transit remand to take her to Balochistan.
Meanwhile, Sanam Javed’s father, Javed Iqbal, has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court seeking her release. He has completed biometric verification, and Sanam Javed’s husband and other family members were present during the filing.
The petition Names the Federal government, the FIA, and the Inspector General of Islamabad, among others, as respondents. It demands that Sanam Javed be brought before the Islamabad High Court and released from what is described as illegal detention.
Additionally, it calls for the disclosure of any charges against her and the suspension of all proceedings on these cases. The petition also seeks to have her detention declared illegal.
This situation follows Sanam Javed’s recent re-arrest by the Islamabad police shortly after her release by the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad.
Her lawyers had successfully argued for her discharge from a previous case, allowing her to return home.
However, she was subsequently re-arrested by Ramna Police. The FIA has accused her of defaming a security agency on social media.
