The PML-N president to get briefing on the recent Supreme Court verdict and its impact during the meeting, say the sources.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 13rd, 2024) Mian Nawaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former three-time Prime Minister, has called for a party meeting, as reported by sources close to him on Saturday.
“The PML-N's legal team will provide a briefing to the party leadership regarding the recent Supreme Court decisions,” the sources stated, noting that significant decisions are anticipated during the meeting.
The sources said that the meeting is scheduled to take place in Murree. They further disclosed that Nawaz Sharif has summoned senior party leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others.
Following the Supreme Court's verdict on the reserved seats case, PML-N leaders expressed strong reactions. The party has lost its majority in the National Assembly due to the verdict, although its position remains robust in the Punjab Assembly.
However, Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, the Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, expressed confidence that they would secure 190 seats in the upcoming months following the Supreme Court's decision.
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar had reacted to the SC verdict on Friday by saying that the government is still in majority, and the verdict would not cause any impact on it.
