Many Govt Employees Arrested For Protesting Against Killings

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -23rd Augst,2016) : Indian police used brute force on a protest sit-in organized by Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) in Srinagar and detained many employees including EJAC chief Abdul Qayoom Wani. The protest was against recent killing of 83 civilians by Indian armed forces and to press for judicial inquiry into the excessive use of force on civilians, Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported. Police detained Abdul Qayoom Wani along with other senior members as they appeared at Press Enclave in Srinagar.
They were lodged in Kothibagh police station. However, a group of employees succeeded in giving a slip to police and staged protest demonstrations at Polo Ground. They demanded immediate end to the killings. "We protest against recent civilian killings and demand immediate end to ongoing bloodbath.
Use of pellets must be stopped with immediate effect and draconian law Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) should be revoked immediately," they demanded.
