LOS ANGELES, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -23rd Augst,2016) - The IndyCar Series championship battle heated up Monday after Will Power came through the field twice to win the rain-delayed ABC Supply 500 at the Pocono Raceway. Power's Team Penske teammate and points leader Simon Pagenaud crashed Monday, leaving a scant 20 point separation between first and second place in the standings. Pagenaud and Power are the main contenders for the title with just three races remaining on the season. To finish the season, IndyCar will race at Sonoma, California in September. Power is looking for his second IndyCar championship while Pagenaud is seeking his first.
Power earned his 29th career victory and his fourth on an oval at the race in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. "It's a very good comeback," Power said. Pagenaud finished 18th after his car bottomed out in turn one and drifted into the outside wall. Pole winner Mikhail Aleshin finished second, equalling his career best in 2014. "In the end I couldn't get Will," Aleshin said.
"I almost crashed a couple of times behind him." Defending champion Ryan Hunter-Reay finished third.
