River Indus Continues To Run In Low Flood

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th August, 2016) : The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said River Indus continues to flow in Low Flood in "Guddu- Sukkur" Reach. According to daily FFC report, all main rivers including Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal. The river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Mangla Dam has attained its Maximum Conservation Level of 1242.00 feet since 16th August 2016, whereas Tarbela Dam is at elevation of 1540.40 feet, i.e.
9.60 feet below its Maximum Conservation Level of 1550.00 feet. The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 13.417 MAF as compared to last year's 13.874 MAF.
According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday's Depression over Northern Bay of Bengal today lies over Jharkand (India) as Deep Depression. Shallow trough of Westerly Wave lies over Northern parts of the country.
Seasonal Low lies over Northern Balochistan. As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.
However, isolated thunderstorm/ rain may occur over the upper catchments of all major Rivers including North and Northeastern Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions), besides, Northeastern Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the same period. Significant rainfall events reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours include; Noorpur Thal & Mangla = 47 mm each, Kasur = 37 mm, Layyah = 33 mm, Cherat = 31 mm, Joharabad & D.G.
Khan (Zain Sanghar) = 30 mm each, Garhidupatta = 26 mm, Peshawar (Airport) = 19 mm, Lahore (Gulberg = 19 mm, Samanabad = 16 mm, Johar Town = 15 mm & City = 11 mm), Murree, Palandri & Rawalakot = 18 mm each, Bhakkar = 16 mm, Islamabad (Golra) = 15 mm, Mianwali = 14 mm, Bannu = 13 mm, Kohat, Tarbela & Risalpur = 11 mm each, Shorkot, Hattian Bala & Daggar = 10 mm each.
